Megyn Kelly – one of President Trump’s most prominent media promoters – broke ranks this week, warning him that he has no constitutional authority to send federal troops to Agoikago without the consent of the Governor.
In her Siriusxm show, Kelly rejected Trump’s suggestion for the unilateral distribution of soldiers in the city rounded by crime, openly saying, “This is not clearly permissible with the Constitution. He cannot do it.”
“So we can’t make Trump come in without the Governor’s invitation. I’m sorry, but we can’t have it. He doesn’t have the constitutional permission to do it,” the former premises Fox News said on Wednesday.
“I really hope he doesn’t do it because I don’t want a world in which I’m joining Gov. [JB] Pritzker on President Trump, “Kelly continued, appointing the Illinois Democratic Governor.
“But I will if he does it because he can’t do it legally.”
Kelly said she hoped that Trump would eventually withdraw, mentioning that she sympathized with Agoikago residents, but would not bow down her legal principles.
“I’m sorry for the people of Agoikagos because I wish their governor would be better and seek help,” she said. “But I think Trump knows that.”
The post has requested comment from the White House.
Kelly’s sharp rebirth marked a rare break from Trump. The veteran journalist has recreated himself over the past two years as one of Trump’s harshest defenders as he was once one of his best goals.
Kelly’s relationship with Trump has been a shock. She clashed with her in 2015 after suffering her during a GOP debate about his past remarks for women. Trump retaliated with a barrage of insults, accusing her of prejudice, and leaving in an innocent way that she had “blood coming out of her everywhere”.
For months, their quarrel consumed titles. Kelly described Trump’s personal attacks as “strange” and “scary”. Trump refused to appear in debates that she moderated and routinely destroyed on social media.
By 2016, the two made a public ceasefire after a private meeting, with Kelly conducting a television interview that hints mutually respect. But the scars lasting, and she left Fox News for NBC before its independent media enterprises began.
Over time, Kelly’s attitude softened. By 2023, she was telling the audience that she could set aside her personal feelings and focus on Trump’s policies, especially immigration, women’s rights and her opposition to what she called “gender madness”.
With the 2024 campaign, she had completely entered Trump’s corner – appearing with her at a Pittsburgh rally, posting selfie together and stating that she was “100% cheers” for his return.
She greeted her as a “women’s protector” and exploded President Joe Biden’s mandate as “catastrophic”.
Trump has set units and marines of the National Guard in Los Angeles and Washington, DC, due to rampant crime and unrest. Movements have attracted legal challenges and aroused widespread protests.
A federal judge recently ruled its use of troops in Los Angeles violated the Posse Comitatus act, temporarily blocking them from law enforcement, while DC deployment is expected to continue until the end of this year.
Trump has also repeatedly threatened to send troops and the implementation of federal law to Agoikago and Baltimore, despite fierce opposition by local and state officials such as Pritzker.
Chicago has long been a Republican, Trump work bag and conservative media showing violent levels of crime as evidence of failed democratic leadership.
Trump suggested that he could set federal troops to stabilize the city, even without a request from Pritzker.
